Sometime in the middle of the night on November 28, 2011, Kimberly Reid was brutally assaulted after she was lured out of her home by two suspects, one who was known to her. The suspects kidnapped her and drove off, continuing to assault her in the moving vehicle.
A Patrol unit observed the suspect's erratic driving, initiated a traffic stop, and both suspects were subsequently taken into custody and successfully prosecuted. Kimberly's injuries were so severe, she required three separate surgeries to repair extensive damage to her hands and fingers.
Phoenix Detective Al Richard was case agent and Kimberly sent a letter to KPHO CBS5's "Pay It Forward" thanking him for his support through the legal process, inclulding picking her up for every court date. Her comments in the letter included "I would of never made it thru my horrifying situation" and "He went above and beyond."

2013 has gotten off to a rough start for police officers in the Valley. Over the course of three days, there were a total of 6 officer involved shootings, two resulting in serious injuries to officers. On Saturday, January 5th, Surprise Police Officers shot and killed a suicidal subject who pointed a rifle at them. Later that afternoon, three Phoenix Police Officers shot and killed a shoplifting suspect who pointed a handgun at them at the Walmart located at 5250 West Indian School Road. On Sunday, January 6th, Phoenix Police Officer Peter “Chris” Bennett was shot several times after he made contact with a suspicious subject on a bicycle in the area of 2100 West Georgia Ave.
